9:00PM: MOJO JUJU

Mojo Juju and Karl S. Williams have been two stand out performers on the festival circuit in recent years, known for their high energy, raw and dynamic live shows. Both have killer songs to back it up also, so we think they’ll be a perfect match for an epic night at Folk Club.

Mojo Juju is 5’3″ of wise cracking, sass mouthing, jump-jiving attitude wrapped up in a zoot suit and propped up on a Cuban heel. A dynamic vocalist, entertainer and songwriter, forever difficult to pigeonhole, Mojo is versatile and unafraid to challenge the boundaries of genre and style.

In 2012 she released her eponymous debut solo album, an offering of lyrical blues & noir soundscapes, to 4 & 5 star reviews. Rhythms Magazine called it a “velvet smooth triumph”. Her most recent work, due for release early 2015, is a collaboration with producer Ptero Stylus (Diafrix/Mantra), and Mojo has hinted that it will be an exploration into ‘pop songwriting’ with throwbacks to Soul, R’n’B and Funk. A seasoned touring act and a natural showman, Mojo has been selling out National headline tours as well as opening for acts such as Tony Joe White (USA), Reverend Horton Heat (USA), Kitty, Daisy & Lewis (UK) and Imelda May (UK).

“Mojo Juju is one Wow-worthy performer” – The Music

Karl S. Williams delivers his songs with utter conviction, weaving beautiful ballads, stomping delta hollers, soulful rhythm and knee slapping blues.

His live show delvers a lightning bolt of energy, and his voice hits you in both the heart and the gut.

Williams is touring his latest single “Is This Love” from his debut album Heartwood which was released to critical acclaim late in 2014. He has also been added to the bill at the prestigious Byron Bay Bluesfest over Easter.
