Tolka played a fantastic show at our first unplugged night in January, and they are back to release their brand new album ‘One House’.

Emerging out of the lively traditional music scene of Melbourne, Tolka encapsulates a sense of what it means to be playing traditional music in a contemporary context. The band have recently returned from 6 months in the UK where they composed and recorded their second album under the guidance of Brian Finnegan (Flook/Kan). This new project comprises entirely original material which pays tribute to the band’s varied influences including traditional Irish music and the music of the wider Australian folk scene. In the last 3 years, Tolka have taken their unique blend of tunes and songs to audiences across Australia and the UK and are proud to present this group of new songs on ‘One House’.

Kate Crowley has an effortless voice, and a knack for truly unique song writing. Playing songs of subtlety and drive, joy and strife, Kate has built an impressive reputation on her live performance. Humour and honesty are trademark in her song writing, while executing the most unusual choices of traditional and contemporary cover with her own distinct style.

The Melbourne Folk Club’s first ever Trad Disco will be hosted by none other than Melbourne’s very own DJ Ado Barker. Having been started at the Ennis Trad Fest in Ireland, trad disco is spreading across the globe and has landed in Australia. DJ Barker’s legendary status as the king of the disco has lead him to tear the house down many a festival – this event is genuinely not to missed. Outrageous 80s/90s disco attire applauded.
