Getting Shane Nicholson to Folk Club was one of our big goals for this year, so we’re stoked to be ticking that off the list on July 30th. Shane is much loved for fronting the band Freak, and an illustrious solo career that has included two albums with Kasey Chambers. We first heard Shane on Triple R playing solo several years back (little late to the party sorry), and it was perfection. Earthy, endearing, rhythmic, nostalgic, Shane just makes you feel at home. This will be yet another golden night at Folk Club.

Aluka have been called “Melbourne’s finest experimental vocal group” and will be the perfect tonic to the male troubadours the start and finish the night. They released their debut album ‘Space’ on 2013, and have been performing regularly with Claire Bowditch. Traversing pop, avant garde, experimentalism, hymnals, hiphop and jazz, this will be a little drop of gold.

Liam Gerner kicks off the night with songs from his latest album ‘Land of No Roads’. Liam is an Aussie, but has spent much of his career overseas touring with everyone from Alanis Morisette to Elton John, Paul Weller, Roger Daltry, Drive By Truckers & Ryan Bingham. He is now back and we’re pleased for it.
