Women In Docs have a special connection with The Melbourne Folk Club, as they were the first act we ever saw at a Folk Club. It was in Dunedin at the New Edinburgh Folk Club many moons ago and they charmed the pants off the audience that night. They planted the seed that night for what we now do at the Bella Union every Wednesday, no small feat!

Roz & Chanel have been playing as Women In Docs for well over a decade, selling 30,000 CDs independently, and touring around North America, Europe, NZ and China. They have a reputation for stirring and humorous live performances, and will be like peas in a pod with our little Folk Club.

Rowena Wise is much talked about of late, and made a big impression with her first Folk Club set back in June. Her voice makes us think of Feist & Regina Spector, and the lyrics & melodies are so catchy and quirky, they just stick. Check out the video below and you’ll get it.
